Statement of Behaviour Principles
At Highfield Community Primary School, our governors have established the following principles to guide our Relationship Management Policy. We believe that a nurturing, consistent approach is essential for every child to feel happy, safe, and secure.
Our Core Principles
- Unconditional Positive Regard: We believe in treating every pupil as an individual with dignity. We separate the child from their behaviour, ensuring that even when a choice is poor, the child is still valued and supported.
- The "Highfield Way": Behaviour is guided by our three core rules: Ready, Respect, and Safe. These are the minimum standards for all members of our school community.
- Heroic Values: We promote and model the values of Empathy, Honesty, Resilience, Self-belief, Kindness, and Pride in everything we do.
- Consistency and Modelling: Adults are the "decisive element" in our school climate. All staff are committed to modelling the positive behaviour we expect from our pupils, using consistent scripts and calm, assertive responses.
- Restorative Justice: We prioritise repairing relationships over punishment. We use restorative conversations to help pupils take responsibility for their actions, understand the impact on others, and learn how to put things right.
- Equity and Inclusion: We recognise that some pupils have additional needs (SEND) or are facing personal challenges. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments and tailoring our strategies to meet individual needs while maintaining clear boundaries.
