Headteacher's Welcome

I am very proud to be the headteacher of Highfield Community Primary School which is very much at the heart of the community. Our mission statement is that all children should meet their potential but we understand that in order for them to achieve this we need to support not just the child’s academic progress but their whole wellbeing.

We have an extremely effective pastoral team who can help with pupils’ social and emotional needs as well as providing support for families who may be struggling. We have our own foodbank which parents can access if they need some help along with a Breakfast club and classroom bagels to ensure pupils’ basic needs are met.

Curriculum

The aim of Highfield Community Primary School is to provide opportunities for children to develop as independent, confident, successful learners with high aspirations who know how to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider society. There is a high focus on developing childrens moral, emotional, social and cultural understanding. We also promote physical well-being and health to encourage children to be more aware of their own abilities inside and outside the classroom.

Equality and Diversity

At Highfield Community Primary School, we take our equality and diversity responsibilities seriously and are focused on embedding both across the curriculum, alongside protecting children from discrimination and harrassment. We teach children about the protected characteristics within our curriculum. Please see overview document for more information.

The School Day

The school day starts at 8:55 and finishes at 3:25 pm for KS1 pupils and 3:30 pm for KS2 pupils. Our doors open at 8:45 so that we can ensure that the children are in on time. Between 8:45 and 9 am pupils take part in Morning activities which help them practice basic skills. The doors shut at 8:55 am and after that children need to enter via the office, signing in on the Inventory systemand giving a reason for lateness.
